Alternators and starters are some of our most common jobs. If the car died while driving or won't crank in the morning, this is usually where we start — and we can swap most of them right where the car sits.
The alternator keeps your battery charged while the engine runs; the starter is what cranks the engine over when you turn the key. Both wear out, and when they go they leave you stranded. We test the whole charging and starting circuit — battery, alternator output, starter draw, and the connections in between — then replace the part that's actually bad instead of guessing. Most alternator and starter swaps we can do on-site.
A dying alternator slowly drains the battery until the car shuts off, usually at the worst time. A bad starter just leaves you with a click and a no-start. Replacing the right part — and confirming the battery and grounds are good while we're in there — keeps you from chasing the same problem twice or paying for parts that didn't need replacing.
Get it checked if you see the battery light, headlights that dim at idle, a slow or grinding crank, a single click when you turn the key, or a car that dies while you're driving. If a parts store tested your alternator or battery as bad, we can come install the fix.
